Rules of EnGagement & REGISTRATION

"Maybe you have told your child(ren) a million times to take out the trash, sit up straight, don't swipe your debit card for every "nickle & dime" transaction, treat people as you would like to be treated or stop looking at your phone when walking about - pay attention to your surroundings! Ok, maybe just a few times. :-)"

WHAT TO EXPECT?

In this 5 hour session, we will provide attendees a fest of "old fashioned" teachings of good housekeeping and behavioral expectations that parents want their children to know. This event will introduce, and perhaps repeat, a wealth of basic life skill lessons and tidbits of knowledge that will greatly enhance your child's understanding of these fundamental attributes that are critical for the proper development of children and adults!

WHY IT MATTERS TO ATTEND?

  •  Unlike technical skills - reading, writing & arithmetic - that we learn in school, life skills are often not taught in a traditional classroom setting. Often they are handed down generationally or from the 'old school' home economics classes.
  •  We know that teaching teens life skills doesn't just build independence, it also builds social-emotional learning skills that help one find happiness & success in school, work, and personal life. These abilities are vital!!
  • Our goal is to equip each student with these 'essential-to -living' skills that will empower them with goal setting & reaching incentives; offer words of encouragement and give them grab bags of real world tools they can use mentally & physically, right away & for a life time!

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

  • We will instruct on the fundamentals of healthy eating, personal care - to include basic first aide,  spiritual & mental health, home, time and money management and have honest conversations about todays social concerns of violence and kid trafficking that will help teens build awareness and become more responsible and prepared to face the challenges ahead with ease and confidence.
  • We will have general assembly discussing the universal topics;

  1. Break out sessions for the boys and girls where the males can mentor male topics & the females can mentor female topics.
  2. We will enjoy nutritious snacks throughout the event and gather formally for a festive and delicious meal, practicing good table manners;
  3. DRESS: A simple Black & White semi-casual attire to allow participants to focus on themselves and the valuable lessons being taught.

                      - WHITE shirt & BLACK pants or skirt/dress.

                      - Attendees may wear their favorite COLORFUL TENNIS/SHOES to the FEST.

  • These subtle and critical life skills taught will be priceless in the future problem solving and healthy coping strategies all youth need.
  • Our facilitating volunteers are knowledgeable, caring professionals from the mental & health care industry, educators, local business men and women and community leaders, who are dedicated life's skills advocates for kids.
  •  Registration and a signed permission/release slip are required for each attendee.
  • Attendees are encouraged to ask questions, participate & provide feedback;
  •  Parents are encouraged to ask their participating children about the event - offer your feedback to us at https://fqcsi.org/contact-us

Note: Unfortunately, we will not have time to discuss all areas as thoroughly as we'd like SO we do want to invite all youth (1-25) to future 1stQtr events of the like.         **COMING SPRING 2024 - Teen Fest of Life & Job Skills for 16 - 18 Year Olds**
